'...a true Australian music legend' (Peter Noble, Bluesfest) '4.5 Stars!' (Anthony O'Grady, The Australian) 'A revelation! Imagine an Australian version of Warren Zevon - smart, clever, pithy lyrics and a dry, sardonic delivery.' (Stuart Coupe) In 2016, Glenn Cardier released his critically acclaimed 'Cool Under Fire' CD and picked up first place win in the International Song Competition for his song 'A Case Of Mistaken Identity'. He appeared at Bluesfest that same year. Cardier's story is an intriguing one. He first came to prominence in the 70's with a string of albums and performances with the likes of Frank Zappa, Fairport Convention, Manfred Mann and Spike Milligan. He played Sunbury (twice), toured the English folk circuit, performed at the Sydney Opera House. Then he drifted away from the music scene for 20 years only to re-emerge as an independent artist with a string of highly acclaimed CDs and performances at every major festival in Australia. 'There's no-one else on the Australian music scene quite like Glenn Cardier; from the finely chiselled storylines, and the razor sharp observations to the off- kilter delivery of his cryptic vignettes, he is a genuine one-off, a maverick, and you wouldn't want it any other way.' Delivering a high energy, swinging style of traditional blues reminiscent of an era of Saturday night Juke joints, back alley gambling haunts and jazz bars, Tomcat Playground are ensuring audiences consistently leave gigs sweating, smiling and wanting more.
A four piece act, consisting guitarist PJ O'Brien, Bass player Mike Rix, Drummer Greg Clark and Harmonica player Dan Sullivan, the four have worked with some of Australia's finest blues acts including The PJ O'Brien band, Alison Penney & the Moneymakers, 19 Twenty and The Jacky Howellers. Drawing influence from the amplified blues of American greats BB King and Little Walter combined with the jumping, swinging riffs of West Coast masters such as T Bone Walker, the act announced itself with a knockout performance at the 2016 Sydney blues festival. This followed with Tomcat Playground being snapped up by P & O for their 2016 "Blues Cruise" and performing soon after at the Broadbeach, Bendigo, Australian, Echuca, Kiama festivals. Reinvigorating a tradition of music with their own brand of flair, do not miss this act. |
A super group of some of Australia's best singers and musicians get together to perform the music of the genius that is Stevie Wonder.
Between them they have had a hit song on Australian radio, won a reality TV show and performed music with the likes of Keith Urban, Macy Gray, Ian Moss, Jessica Mauboy and Guy Sebastion. Vocalists Jeremy Gregory and Michael Duchesne team up with members from Uncle Jed (Australia's Got Talent winners) Laura and Shannon Stitt to bring you the music of Stevie Wonder. These 4 have all played for us before but never together. It will be a rare treat for us. |
