Steve is a Full-time singer and guitarist who has performed extensively in Australia and internationally over the last 25 years. His versatile vocal style and energetic guitar performances have enabled him to work with many profile musicians. He is currently the Musical Director/Touring Manager/Guitarist/backing vocalist for Australian Artist, Shannon Noll.
For the last 8 year's, Steve's been touring Australia with the Angels, Dragon, John Farnham, Icehouse, Daryl Braithwaite, Jon Stevens, James Rayne, Russell Morris, The Black Sorrows and Suzi Quatro. Steve has been the guitarist on other tours with Adam Brand, 1927, Bananarama, The Chantoozi's, Wang Chung, and Beccy Cole. Steve also works as a singer/guitarist soloist, in duos, trios and in a number of corporate bands & tribute shows playing popular music. Steve's tremendous talent is highlighted through a reportoire which includes hits from past to present and guaranteed favorites, with an emphasis on audience involvement. At The Fig Steve has agreed to be not just an entertainer but the catalyst for our first-ever sing-a-long. |
With dazzling melodic fingerpicking on six and twelve string guitars, stinging bottleneck slide and a lifetime's stories and songs gathered or written on the world's musical highways it's no surprise that Nick Charles has long been labelled internationally as "Australia's virtuoso of acoustic roots and blues".
During his extensive and acclaimed career, Nick has released sixteen albums on major Australian and US roots music labels. His recordings have garnered world-wide recognition beginning with "My Place" and now his most recent release "The River Flows". Melbourne's AGE newspaper nominating it Album of the Year as it reached number 2 on the Australian Public Radio network. Nick's list of awards and accolades further include every major blues award in this country multiple times, twice winner of the Australian Song Contest and "Port Fairy Folk Festival Artist of the Year" (Australia's highest folk accolade). This recognition has resulted in his signing to the Grammy Award winning label, Solid Air Records USA ("Home of the World's Finest Guitarists"). The only other Australian recognized by the label being Tommy Emmanuel. He has toured with and supported John Hammond, Guy Clarke, Ralph McTell, Robyn Ford, Junior Wells, Taj Mahal and BB King and toured the US twelve times Consistently averaging 150 shows a year in Australia, New Zealand and the USA, his music encompasses a delightful and eclectic mix of acoustic roots including blues, folk, country and early ragtime jazz. Along the way there are stylish nods to the "Great American Songbook" and the finest contemporary players and composers from Chet Atkins to Lennon and McCartney to Leo Kottke. Sam McNally is one of the most experienced musicians in Australia. This contemporary keyboard-player and recording artist has gold standard credits. Including Stylus, Air Supply, Tommy Emmanuel, John Farnham and Doug Williams. He's co-written songs for and with Richard Clapton, Louie Shelton and William Crighton. He is also very active as a music educator. He has recorded hundreds of radio jingles, songs for artists, and film music projects, plus five albums of his own. Jazz/Soul/Funk is Sam's most treasured style/genre, but his immense experience means he can "play anything". Sam spends a lot of time overseas on different projects. She's won awards for her songs in the 25th Australian National Songwriting Contest and the Musicoz awards. She's given electric performances at the Manly International Jazz Festival (with Sam McNally), the Norfolk Island Jazz Festival, The New Zealand International Jazz and Blues Festival and at Jakarta's Java Jazz Festival, alongside Chaka Khan, Jamie Cullum and Level 42. For their show at the Fig they'll be joined by Calvin Welch (drums), Graham Burns (bass) and Ben Ackland (guitar). |
