World traveller, singer, guitar-slinger Greg Nunan has spent the last decade bringing his Stevie Ray Vaughan-inspired blues rock thing to Australia and the world, honing his chops as resident band in the Crazy Elephant Bar, Singapore's home of the blues.
Performance at Festivals such as SXSW in Austin Texas (Australia's first online virtual sets for SXSW), Peats Ridge, Manly Jazz Festival, Peaches & Cream Festival, Coffs Harbour Food & Wine Festival, Wangaratta Jazz Festival and Singapore's Boys Toys Festival have been highlights amongst playing different clubs, pubs and blues cruises over the years. Four times invited to front the famous Blues Machine at Singapore's world renowned Crazy Elephant Bar has seen Greg jam onstage with Deep Purple, members from Royal Crown Revue and Bette Midler's horn section. |
Arrebato Ensemble is contemporary flamenco with edge. Led by acclaimed flamenco guitarist Greg Alfonzetti and Damian de Boos-Smith (cello and guitar), the long-time collaborators are joined by Byron Mark (cajon, percussion and piano), and dancer Chachy Peñalver, founder and director of The Sydney Flamenco Studio. This new lineup creates passionately moving performances combining incisive ensemble playing, masterful solos and the beauty and power of flamenco dance.
Their much-anticipated third album “Sofia’s Dream” has been released in October 2018. The group undertook an Australian East Coast tour in October, including the City Recital Hall in Sydney, with additional performances around Australia and Europe planned for 2019. The group’s previous albums drew critical acclaim with John Shand describing that while their music “moves from pure flamenco in favour of a more contemporary style, the spirit, a dramatic, sexually charged and haughty sadness, remains intact.” (SMH). The group’s first album snared them the Best World Music Artist at the MusicOz Awards. And performances at WOMADAdelaide, Sydney Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Sydney Opera House, International Australian Festival of Chamber Music, followed. The second CD Absolución, was launched at the Sydney Opera House in 2011 to a sell out audience and also enjoyed rave reviews. |
For over 30 years The Swinging Sixties have built a very strong reputation for their ability to engage their audience like no other group of its kind.
Dressed in tailor made 60's suits with all the accoutrements and armed with Rickenbacker and Gretsch guitars and Vox amps to reproduce magic sounds, this entertaining and authentic group has an exciting rawness that was prevalent at live shows of the era. They held an 8 year residency at the iconic Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel during the late 80's to mid 90's. At The Fig, expect to hear numbers from groups and divas including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Monkees, The Crystals, Dusty Springfield, Petula Clark and others. |
