After success on Australia's The Voice, almost six years ago, Alex Gibson embarked on a musical journey from Sydney to London – the iconic home to many of his musical heroes. Having released his debut album 'This Is Life' in 2012, he embraced the next step of his career and quickly earned a reputation as one of London's hardest working and most exciting musical acts.
Alex has performed at various London venues, including The 100 Club and OMEARA. He was also featured as one of Time Out London's rising star acts in 2016 and was runner up in the 'Songs of War' competition in 2018 which was judged by the likes of Joss Stone, Dave Stewart and Mike Rutherford. From busking on Portobello Road, to performing at Sofar Sounds, Alex's style is adaptable, soothing and raw, with appeal across various generations and stages. Inspired by both classic and modern genres, his new music is a culmination of Alex's own timeless sound and his immense passion, skill and determination. 2021 will mark the release of Alex's sophomore album - a body of work exploring new topics with crude honesty and fierce energy. After five years in the making, this album will take you on a journey of real emotions with beautiful and varied delivery, reflecting everything that defines Alex Gibson. After five years in London, Alex has recently returned to Australia, and is marking the occasion with a show at 'The Manly Fig'." |
Growing up in Perth in the 1970s, Nicole's early hero was Olivia Newton-John. Nicole even wore leg-warmers when the thermometer was melting. After appearing in various musical-theatre shows Nicole's first foray into pop music was in 1987 with three-piece female pop/dance group Pleasure Principle. The band had an Eastern States tour lined up but a car accident on the eve of the tour left one of the other members injured and the tour continued with Nicole part of a duo. Once the tour was over Pleasure Principle folded.
Settling in Sydney Nicole worked as a professional catwalk model but maintained her love of singing working as a session and backing vocalist with loads of top names from the Australian music industry such as Skyhooks' Greg Macainsh, the late Greedy Smith, and her husband Dave Warner (Suburban Boy). Dave Warner and his writing partner Martin Cilia (Atlantics) had written a number of songs for Nicole over the years but being mum to three children put Nicole's singing career on ice until 2019 when Nicole finally recorded her album, `Forever And A Day'. After a sell-out single launch fate struck again however, and the planned album launch at Manly Fig had to be cancelled as it fell in the first week of the Sydney Covid lockdown. A country-pop album, `Forever And A Day' boasts all original material written by Warner and Cilia and in some ways sees Nicole return full circle to her earliest pop-country influences. Now finally, after a long and patient wait, Nicole is excited to have the opportunity to play her music to live audiences.
