Fusion of blues/rags/gospel/hillbilly; R&B Soul diva; high-energy guaranteed fun

Blues Preachers

Prinnie Stevens

Mimesis

The Blues Preachers will take you to another place and time, somewhere between 1920 and 1940. They perform a fusion of good old blues, rags, gospel and hillbilly folk. Driving finger-style and slide-guitar combined with tasteful harmonica and old-school vocal harmonies that create a traditional sound that will have you on the edge of your seats. The Blues Preachers have the reputation as one of the best acoustic blues & roots acts in Australia & have played almost every major festival in the country. “If pop music is akin to mass-produced lager then The Blues Preachers’ music is more your craft beer.” John Shand – SMH & The Age “The Preachers specialize in pre-war, rag time blues – Brother John spinning six string delights while Captain Bluetongue wails on the harp and they combine fine vocal harmonies to make something special indeed. These two could well have written the soundtrack to O’ Brother, Where Art Thou.” Sam Fell – Rhythms Magazine
Australian-born Polynesian R&B soul artist Prinnie appeared on season 1 of The Voice where she wowed audiences with her high-energy R&B performances that set her aside from the rest. Her ability to sing, dance and act at the highest level has solidified her place as one of the most sought-after performers in the country.

Prinnie perfected the art of song and dance from a young age landing her first musical at 17 in the hit musical, Rent. She’s gone on to star in shows like ‘Thriller Live’ (London’s West End), The Bodyguard and play The Iconic role of Sheila in Hair. Prinnie continues to wow audiences with one of the best live shows in the country performing writing and producing shows for not only herself but other incredible Australian artists – shows like ‘Music For The Soul’, ‘Lady sings the blues’ and ‘Ladies night’ featuring Paulini, Fasika and Prinnie. Keep an eye out for her upcoming shows. At The Fig she is playing in semi-acoustic mode, highlighting her beautiful voice.
An eclectic string cover band featuring violin, cello, guitar and three part vocal harmonies, serving up a cocktail of contemporary pop and rock hits, performed with a twist of classical expertise and virtuosic finesse. Guaranteed to have you singing along, even dancing.

Covering a diverse repertoire spanning all genres and decades- with retro classics from Leo Sayer, Led Zeppelin, Bee Gees, Beatles and Jackson 5, to contemporary hits from Coldplay, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Whitlams, Wolfmother and Mumford & Sons- Mimesis offers an exciting challenge to the conventional perception of string trios.
