Uncle Jed

The Goodfellas

Genevieve Chadwick

When you combine three siblings with a love of music, the chemistry is truly magical, Uncle Jed has that family band feel and you can always tell they love making music together. Uncle Jed started out playing small gigs around Sydney and touring up and down the East Coast of Australia. In 2013 they took the nation by storm winning TV’s Australia’s Got Talent, giving them a platform to showcase their soulful sound around the country with multiple National tours. Aside from playing in Uncle Jed together they have all gone on to become established session musicians, accompanying the likes of Jessica Mauboy, Casey Donovan, Keith Urban, Guy Sebastion and The Beautiful Girls. “It’s been a while since we have played a show together but when Robbie and Steve call and ask us to play Many Fig, the answer is only ever going to be yes! We go way back to 2012 (refer to video) it’s one of our favourite venues to play”

The Goodfellas band is made up of a group of terrific musicians who just love to play music together. A gig with the fellas is always, exciting, colourful, funny, and entertaining. It’s hard to pin a style on the band as there are way too many influences they draw from. It’s a love for music and friendship that formed this band. The whole idea of the band and its naming was that you had to be a good fella, (guy or gal) to play in the line-up. MARK OATS (fiddle) & MATT ZARB (guitar, vocals and other bits & pieces) are a story in themselves have been playing music together since 1986 and never tire of stepping the stage together to make their musical mischief. Whenever they are together it’s a true recipe for a laugh but fantastic music and energy. Both Mark and Matty have had huge colourful careers that have taken them both all over the world and flavoured all they do in any given show in that fly by the seat of your pants manner. SCOTT GREENAWAY (Bass, vocals ) is everyone’s favourite bass player and for good reason. Scotty, originally from the Manning Valley spent years away touring with Aussie country headline bands all over the country. He also had his time in the Nashville scene.  ANTHONY WALMSLEY (Guitar) has had huge career as one of Australia’s favourite guitar players. He’s played guitar for just about everyone who’s anyone in the country music industry. Known and much loved for his beautiful guitar skills and wicked sense of humour, the Tamworth born and bred guitar master player leaves a huge imprint on any project. HESTER FRAZER, (Piano, vocals) is well known in her solo realm as (GOLDHIEST) & adds a beautifully powerful dimension that extends the sound with her stunning voice, beautiful piano playing, signature sound and presence. MICHAEL EYB (Drums, vocals) has been for years the Manning Valley’s “Go to drummer” and much loved with all the chops and awesome energy.

Imagine if Janis Joplin and John Lee Hooker had a baby together; musically, this girl would be the offspring of that union. She looks like an angel… roars like a lion… and plays guitar like a demon! She’s been likened to the great Janis Joplin… ‘a female John Butler’. In his article at australianstage.com.au, reviewer Lloyd Bradford Syke called her “Australia’s answer to Melissa Etheridge”. Without doubt, Genevieve is an extraordinary performer who exudes raw energy by the bucket load. She has the power to bring an entire venue to a complete standstill. Her own original brand of Blues and Roots – poignant songs full of rich melodies, sung with a voice that’s confoundingly gravel-like and smooth all at once. Genevieve has played at Bluesfest, Woodford Folk, Thredbo Blues, Echuca Winter Blues, Nannup Music Festival, Sydney Blues & Roots, Queenscliff Music Festival & Bendigo Blues & Roots. She also scored opening slots for some of the country’s top acts and in 2013 won the People’s Choice Award at the Telstra Road to Discovery Finals in Tamworth. In a breakthrough year, Genevieve was also selected as one of only three Australian artists to become part of the global Playing For Change music project, which in turn saw her play Bluesfest at Byron Bay and and support Joan Armatrading and Ben Caplin on their Australian sideshows. “She’s the talent of John Butler, with the soul of Janis Joplin. A force truly to be reckoned with.” – LOTL “Genevieve Chadwick could quite easily be as big as John Butler. She looks like an angel, roars like a lion and plays guitar like a demon. She has the power within her to bring an entire venue to a complete standstill.” – Cath Butler, Editor of The Groove “Raw energy in bucket loads, fuelled by the passion for the music.” – Lottie Norman, Channel V Reviewer “Armed with only a guitar and stomp box which gave a driving pulse and strong sense of gravitas, Chadwick impressed those who arrived early and decorated the floor before her with a delightful stage persona that made an already brilliant performance all the more special. Sultry vocals that coloured Chadwick’s poignant guitar playing crafted an entertaining set that unfortunately wrapped up all too soon.” – Faster Louder “With a huge personality, Genevieve Chadwick had an exciting energy about her which channelled into her music and made for an unforgettable hour of entertainment. ” – Gossme, Faster Louder
